Tsunami averted!!

Hey all! Well, this morning we had quite an adrenaline rush waking up to the sound of the tsunami sirens. As you know, we are in the clear and no big waves were produced on their voyage across the pacific.

We have moved from the southern part of the island up to the Hilo area. We are about 16 miles north of Hilo in a place called Umauma. Through the hands of Lindsay's aunt Deb and uncle Greg we hooked up with a couple who own a little fruit farm. The 12 acres mostly boasts the popular and exotic fruit, lychee. Among other fruits found in our backyard are bananas, avacado, oranges, limes, lemons, jackfruit, breadfruit, papaya, coconut, a 70' mango tree, and many other exotics I have yet to know. The property needs some work and thats what Jeff and I were hired on to do. Our first task was to spruce up a little two bedroom cottage. It was pretty run down, dirty and filled with fauna. So after about 50 tubes of caulk and a lot of paint, and removal of the guests we were able to move in comfortably. We are still working on the place. We need to put in new floors and finish the trim. After that our mosquito hollow will be our own passionate paradise.

We have been surfing quite a bit. There is a local spot just outside of Hilo called Honoli'i. Its our favorite spot with waves for everyone. Jeff was hassled only once for droppin' in brah on some local, but I seem to get a lot of encouragement and smiles out in the water! We are saving up to start a new hobby of fishing. Spear or pole, not sure yet.

Miss Marlowe is doing great! Obviously she is super healthy and quite strong in muscle and personality. imagine that. She is just about nine months now. She isn't walking yet but likes to speed crawl and jump on the bed and get into everything! She is really sweet and funny. She has this face she makes where she scrunches the whole thing up and puckers her lips and breathes hard...not sure what that is about, but hilarious.

We are happy that we are here in this paradise making a new life. It was a difficult transition, getting our foot in the door and finding this opportunity. But with a little faith and some good timing we are over the scary hump and are settling in to the island rhythm. We sure do miss each and everyone of you more than you know. Its hard not having the people we love the most in this world here watching and helping Marlowe grow into such an amazing little being. We are doing the best we can and she seems really happy! But please come visit us!! Its a Hawaiian tradition that the babies first birthday is a grand celebration. That they made through the first year is such a blessing. The Hawaiians invite everyone they know and people they don't. They roast a pig and party for days...so, Marlowe's birthday is June 3rd if anyone has the time and money to make it, we have an extra bedroom, a futon and plenty of camping space!

Happy New Years family and friends!! Ok, I swear this is not going to be a quarterly report. Life has been pretty crazy for the last few months and chasing Marlowe around can be taxing. A lot has changed since September. We are officially moved to the Big Island of Hawai'i. The family packed up and brought a few bags and are calling it good...paradise. We are temporarily living down in Ocean View, which is in south point, near the southern most part of the US. We have a beautiful new, fully furnished 3 bedroom house with 180 degree views of the ocean. So we get sunrise and sunset. It is located in between Hilo and Kona...a little bit country. We are on the job hunt. Hopefully I can find a job in Horticulture, growing coffee or macadamia nuts or orchids or something and Jeff can stay at home with M dog!!

Marlowe is doing great! She is growing soo fast. Last month she got two teeth (finally!) and learned to crawl on Christmas day. She is cruising around, but of course, this little girl is not satisfied with just crawling. She is constantly pulling herself into standing position on anything she can grab. So naturally is falling every five minutes, lots of crying, ouch. Maybe she will start walking at eight months like her mom did. Marlowe is taking solid food really well thanks to her Nana shoving it down her throat for the few weeks we were home. Her favorite is prunes, probably because it she has amazing BM's after!!

Well, just wanted to update you a bit. Got to go watch the sunset! It sure is cooling down, about 71 degrees now...burrr. miss amd love you all!!! xoxo

Let it snow! September 30

We woke up today to find snow falling on this dry land. It feels good to see it finally getting a drink. I decided to start this blog so that all of our family and friends can watch Marlowe grow no matter the physical distance between us. She is growing so quickly! For anyone who does not know. Jeff, Marlowe and I are still living in Bozeman, Montana. Jeff is currently taking some prerequisite classes at MSU before applying to nursing school, while working two jobs. I have been enjoying being a mother and working VERY part-time. I still have my landscaping business, which has slowed down quite a bit since Marlowe was born. I didn't expect to take to motherhood so easily, but as Jeff says, I am obsessed. But not in a scary overbearing way, just totally smitten. What can I say she is perfect! for now anyway...
